last tv show: My mum and I are re-watching "House, M.D.", a.k.a. "Medical Malpractice: The TV Show".
sweet/spicy/savory: Usually sweet. I do like a bit of savoury, but I have a hell of a sweet tooth and absolutely zero spice tolerance. Like lemon and herb Nando's tests me.

angel on his shoulder: happy birthday (op81)
mean!oscar x sweet!reader
summary: oscar struggles to find the perfect gift for your birthday
notes: again, he’s not really mean, but idk what to call him now
wc: 1533
prev. part
You had somehow managed to do it, to worm your way into Oscar’s life, to make yourself a permanent part of his day. What was once passing glances had now turned into soft smiles and quiet conversations. He looked forward to seeing you everyday, to talking with you.
He started saving a seat for you whenever he ate lunch, or sitting closer to Lando during meetings, so he could sit closer to you. He longed to be at the receiving end of your smiles and laughs, and mentally cheered when he was.
Of course spending more time with you meant spending more time with Lando as well. Oscar didn’t dislike Lando, not at all, but Lando could occasionally be… a bit much. Especially when he was wiggling his eyebrows at him for simply talking with you.
He was sitting in the training room at the MTC one day, getting ready to begin his workout when he feels an arm around his shoulders. He turns to see Lando smirking down at him.
“Hey.” He says.
“Hey yourself.” Lando replies. “What are you up to?”
Oscar furrows his eyebrows and looks around the gym. “What do you think?”
Lando rolls his eyes, but smiles as he walks towards a set of weights.
“Is, uh, is Y/n coming around?” Oscar tries to sound casual, but hearing Lando snort makes his face flush.
“To stay with me while I work out? I doubt she’d be interested in that.” He scoffs. “But I bet she’d be more interested if she knew you were here too.”
“What?” Oscar spurts. “Why would she?” He can feel his face burning up.
“No reason.” Lando says, teasingly. “Hey, what are you doing for next week?”
Oscar furrows his brows. “What’s going on next week?”
“Y/n’s birthday.” Lando answers. “You didn’t know?” He turns to look at Oscar.
Oscar tries to think back, wondering if you’ve mentioned your birthday.
“Well it’s next week. I’m throwing a party for her. You can come if you want.”
Oscar nods. “Yeah, yeah I’ll be there.”
Lando grins. “Good. She’ll be glad to hear that.”
Oscar tries to hide the blush he feels spreading on his cheeks.
“I’ve already got her gift picked out and wrapped. Not by me, of course. It’d look like I was handing her a wad of paper.”
“Gift?” Oscar asks. He feels panic beginning to rise in his chest.
“Yeah, gift. It’s a birthday.” Lando laughs. “You have to get her a gift.”
“Right.” Oscar murmurs. He stands up. “I think I’m done here, for the day.” With that he walks out of the training center, gym bag slung over his shoulder, his gaze locked on the ground as he leaves.
“Didn’t even see him do anything.” Lando mumbles to himself.
Oscar spends the rest of the day wracking his brain for something, anything to get you for your birthday. He could get you jewelry? But that seems too intimate. Money? Too casual.
He sits alone while he eats his lunch, staring off into space as he eats, trying to think of something.
“Hey, Os. You okay?” You ask softly placing your food down on the table next to him.
He snaps out of his thoughts, looking at you wide-eyed.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?”
You laugh. “I don’t know, you’ve got this weird look on your face.”
He shakes his head. “No I don’t.”
“Okay, fine.” You laugh.
Oscar sighs, looking back at his food, but out of the corner of his eye he sees a book on your lap.
“What’s that?” He asks.
“Oh,” you smile, lifting the book to put it on the table. “It’s the book I’m reading right now.”
Oscar looks at the cover.
“It’s actually like, the tenth time I’m reading it.” You say.
Oscar snorts. “Why?”
“It’s my favorite book.” You shrug. “It’s so good. If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it.”
Oscar hums.
“No, seriously, it would be so nice to have someone to talk to about it.” You whine. “I tried to get Lando to read it, and do you know what he said? He said ‘I’ll wait for the movie’. Can you believe that?” You ask.
Oscar laughs. “That sounds about right.” He watches as you push the book to the side to eat your lunch. “Hey, I gotta go, but I’ll see you later.”
“Oh, okay, see you.”
Oscar tries not to let the way your shoulders slump affect him. He gathers his things, and leaves you sitting there, pulling out his phone as he walks away.
After work Oscar goes to several different shops, looking for that damned book. He’s just about to give up, when he finally finds one lone copy. He keeps it tucked close to his chest as he walks to the checkout counter, as if afraid someone’s going to try to pry it from his hands.
He spends any free time he has for the week with his nose in the book. He brings it with him to the MTC, he reads it before and after work, he feels like the book becomes a part of him.
He shows up to Lando’s apartment for your party, with his gift tucked under his arm. He’d spent about an hour on picking a shirt, then another on fixing his unruly hair.
He has to admit, he’s surprised when he walks into Lando’s apartment. It’s not the bright rave lights or loud music he’d picture Lando would pick out for a party for himself, instead it’s soft warm lighting with some soft music in the background.
“I see you’ve made it.” Lando says, when he sees Oscar. “And you’ve managed to find a gift.” He smirks. “What’d you get her?”
Oscar shakes his head. “It’s nothing.”
“Keeping it a surprise?”
Before Oscar can answer, he’s pulled into a soft hug. “Thanks for coming, Os.” He hears your voice next to his ear.
Oscar smiles, wrapping an arm around you. “Happy birthday.”
When you pull away Oscar allows himself a moment to admire you. You’re wearing a soft dress that compliments you well. He notices the small sparking stone on the necklace around your neck.
“Pretty necklace.” He says.
You lift a hand to touch the stone. “Thanks. Lando got it for me.”
Oscar feels an uncomfortable twist in his stomach. His eyes search for the brit, who has made himself scarce.
“I told him it was too much. He said it’s the least he can do for me, having to put up with him everyday.” You laugh.
Oscar gives you an unconvincing smile, awkwardly shifting the gift under his arm, the gift he’s starting to feel immensely insecure about.
“Do you want to go sit somewhere?” You ask him. “Lando invited all of these people, but I don’t think I know half of them.” You laugh.
Oscar nods, following you as you lead him to the balcony.
You each take a seat, looking out at the sun setting over Monaco. He can’t help but admire you. The sun makes you practically glow, your eyes quite literally sparkle.
“Thanks for coming, really.” You break the silence. “I appreciate what Lando’s done, but I can’t help but feel a bit… out of place.”
Oscar hums. He holds out his gift to you, figuring it’d be better to deal with the embarrassment of you thinking it’s lame out here alone, rather than inside surrounded by people.
He watches as you tear open the gift, a confused look spreading across your face as you see what it is.
“It’s my book…” You say, holding the same book you showed him at the beginning of the week, though this copy is clearly newer. “Thanks Oscar.” You say, trying to hide your disappointment.
“Open it.”
You look at him confused again. “I swear if you cut a hole in my favorite book-“
“Just open it.” He cuts you off with a smile.
You slowly open it, flipping through the first few pages, the title page, the acknowledgment, the table of contents, until you get to the first actual page of the book.
Inside, surrounding the text in the book are little notes and doodles, scrawled in messy handwriting. You flip through the pages to see them everywhere.
“You annotated it?” You ask softly.
Oscar nods. “I read it this week. I figured it would be nice for you to have someone to talk to about it.” He says. He takes a deep breath. “Look, I know it’s not great-“
“I love it.” You cut him off.
“You do?”
You nod. You had copies upon copies of this book, paperbacks, hardcovers, special editions, sprayed edges, but none of them compared to the one in your hands. The one Oscar took the time to read, then write out all of his own thoughts for you. It felt like you were holding a piece of him in your arms.
“Yeah, I love it. Thank you.” You murmur, pulling him into a hug.
Oscar feels like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders as he wraps his arms around you. He smiles to himself, feeling like he’s successfully planted himself in your heart now.

A Not-So-Disastrous Romance (Book 2) Chapter Sixteen
Saiki Kusuo x Reader
Chapter Sixteen: Teruhashi's Tears and Rifuta's Crush
Summary: Teruhashi comes over and interrupts Saiki's New Year, but somehow she isn't the worst guest that comes. Also, (Y/N)'s hypothesis is spot-on about Rifuta.
Mr. and Mrs. Saiki laughed as (Y/N) told them about one of the many (unfortunate) adventures they had been on with Saiki—this time a tale of the karaoke party where Saiki had to end up performing. Ordinarily, he wouldn’t want his parents to know he’d done something so public since it would encourage them to bother him to do stupid stuff in front of people, but it was a fond memory since (Y/N) had been there, taken most of the attention, and made the entire thing worth it. So, he let (Y/N) continue as they beamed when they remembered dancing around and pretended to do it again. All-in-all, this was turning out to be a perfect New Year’s Day.
Alright, I’ve got the plan! I casually tell him Happy New Year, and then when I mention the festival, he’ll want to come along!
Saiki’s mood darkened. Of course Teruhashi was already here to bother him on a lovely day. So, to stop her from interrupting, he grabbed onto the doorbell of his house with his psychic abilities and smothered the sound of it.
There. No ruining my day.
“Hey, can I help you?”
Saiki jerked as he heard a voice speaking to Teruhashi. He hadn’t heard any other thoughts approaching, and the voice—
Him!
“What’s wrong, Kusuo?” asked (Y/N), noticing Saiki’s tiny change in mood.
There was a knock at the door, and Mrs. Saiki stood. She peered out the window and beamed.
“It’s Kusuke and Kokomi!” she said. “What a lovely surprise.”
Oh, that explains his mood, thought (Y/N), smothering a little chuckle. Saiki saw their amusement and scowled—though there was no real malice. (Y/N) chuckled and patted his hand. “We’ll deal with it.”
“Don’t let them in,” said Saiki as his mom headed to the door, but she was already opening the door.
“Welcome in!” she said, beaming. “Oh, Kusuke, you’re home!”
“Mom, it’s been a while,” said Kusuke, smiling.
“Happy New Year,” greeted Teruhashi politely. She saw (Y/N) and started slightly. “Oh, (Y/N). You’re here?”
Fortunately for Teruhashi, there was no annoyance at seeing them. They were friends, and that friendship meant Teruhashi’s inevitable jealousy at not getting Saiki alone was dampened. (And that was fortunate for Teruhashi because bad thoughts about (Y/N) meant getting onto Saiki’s bad side).
“My parents are out of town on a work trip,” said (Y/N), smiling. “The Saikis were nice enough to invite me over.”
That was the complete truth, they merely left out that Mrs. Saiki had also rambled about how “if (Y/N)’s family wasn’t going to take care of them as a family, then they were going to be part of the Saiki family, and Kusuo should get a move on and make sure they never leave because they’re just too sweet and—” (and so on and so forth).
“When are your parents actually at the house?” said Saiki.
(Y/N) shrugged. They were pretty much used to living independently at this point.
“Wait, do you two know each other?” said Mr. Saiki, looking between Teruhashi and Kusuke.
“She was ringing the doorbell, so I brought her in,” said Kusuke. His intelligence had just known it would irritate Saiki.
“The doorbell?” said Mr. Saiki.
“Oh, my, I’m so sorry, I didn’t hear it!” said Mrs. Saiki.
(Y/N) raised an eyebrow at Saiki. He looked away, and they tutted.
This is a huge revelation! I had no idea Saiki had an older brother! thought Teruhashi. But I don’t really like his type…Speaking of siblings “Is Kuriko here today?”
“What?” said Saiki’s parents.
Oh, right. Saiki had forgotten about his feminine name. I pretended to by my own sister, who doesn’t exist. I have to let them know.
“Kuriko?” said Mrs. Saiki, frowning.
“Oh, right, kuriko!” Mr. Saiki grabbed something from the kitchen—literal kuriko. “Here is kuriko for you.”
That’s kuri chestnut paste.
“No, I mean Saiki’s sister,” said Teruhashi. She looked at (Y/N). “You met her.”
“Right,” said (Y/N), smiling. “Isn’t it amazing how similar she and Kusuo look? Especially since their brother—”
“You can call me Kusuke,” said Kusuke.
“No.” Saiki didn’t need him being familiar or friendly with his partner.
“—looks so different with the blonde hair. Kuriko and Kusuo both have pink,” said (Y/N).
“That’s true,” said Teruhashi, smiling.
Good clue, thought Saiki. Hopefully his parents would get the hint.
“I don’t know any Kur—Mm!”
Kusuke shoved the kuri chestnut paste into his dad’s mouth and smiled. “Oh, of course! Our sister, Kuriko.” Of course the genius had figured the plot out. “She’s abroad right now, like I was. You know her?”
“Oh, really?” said Mr. Saiki, still a little confused but starting to get it.
“I do,” said Teruhashi.
Unbelievable, thought Saiki.
“Which country did she go to?” asked Teruhashi.
“Paraguay,” said Mr. Saiki.
“Paraguay?” said Teruhashi, amazed.
“Shut up,” said Saiki to Mr. Saiki.
“Kusuo, I have a present for you!” said Kusuke, successfully changing the subject (not that a “gift” from Kusuke would be much better than the present conversation). “I have one for you, too, (Y/N)!” He held up envelopes.
Never mind, this is good. Saiki could see the money inside with his x-ray vision.
“Oh, I can’t accept that,” said (Y/N), waving their hands.
Teruhashi glanced between (Y/N) and the envelope. Saiki’s brother prepared a gift for them? That’s very close…
“Well, you are Kusuo’s pa—”
“Pal!” interrupted (Y/N) before Kusuke could blurt out the word “partner.” Embarrassed, they took the enveloped and bowed. “Thank you!”
Close one… (Y/N) and Saiki breathed a sigh of relief.
We need to get out of here, thought Saiki. He tapped (Y/N) on the shoulder and gestured to the door.
They nodded and grabbed their coat—pink with hearts embroidered on the pockets. They headed towards the door, and Saiki pulled on his boots.
“We should invite Kokomi,” whispered (Y/N).
“No,” said Saiki. He wanted a nice moment with (Y/N).
“She and Kusuke with each other is going to be a problem,” pointed out (Y/N).
Saiki hated they were right. “Fine, but then we go out the two of us.”
“Of course,” said (Y/N), kissing Saiki’s cheek before going back to the living room to invite Kokomi.
Saiki let out a little sigh. Oh, wow. He’d never get tired of their affection.
l
This is the worst-case scenario. Saiki glared ahead of himself as Kusuke walked through the crowd with them.
Why is his brother tagging along? Teruhashi had deflated. With (Y/N) at least that was a friend and she could still have a moment with Saiki—Not happening—but with Kusuke, that was going to be weird.
I should have known Kusuke would tag along, thought (Y/N). The genius had known what would annoy Saiki.
I need to get out of here with (Y/N), decided Saiki. Risking Teruhashi and Kusuke interacting was fine—he was too tired to care.
“By the way, do you have a crush on Kusuo?” said Kusuke, turning around with an “innocent” smile. He looked directly at Teruhashi.
Her face promptly turned several shades of red, and she coughed. “You shouldn’t embarrass Saiki like that!” she said nervously. “And we’re just friends! It’s nothing more!”
“Oh, good,” said Kusuke.
He knows she’s lying. (Y/N) and Saiki exchanged a worried glance.
I knew I wouldn’t like him, thought Teruhashi.
“I mean, you obviously don’t have anything in common,” said Kusuke, still with that “innocent” smile. “You’re different as night and day.”
“What?” said Teruhashi. “Saiki and I have plenty—”
“What are you saying?” Kusuke’s smile had dropped, and he looked at her coldly.
“What?” said Teruhashi.
“I can see through you. You’re not worthy of Kusuo,” said Kusuke.
Teruhashi froze. No one had ever spoken to her like that.
“You thought you could fool me?” said Kusuke. “Well, it’s to be expected. You probably have been pampered your whole life because of your looks. But Kusuo is on a different level.”
“Hey!” said (Y/N), glaring at him. “Leave Kokomi alone!” Even if they knew Teruhashi didn’t have a chance with Saiki, Kusuke was just being mean.
I realize now why I don’t like this guy, thought Teruhashi, staring at Kusuke with wide, shocked eyes. He hasn’t gasped even once since meeting me. There’s never been anyone who wasn’t interested in me.
“Come on, Kokomi. Let’s leave this jerk,” said (Y/N), taking Teruhashi’s hand. Kusuke had been unnecessarily cruel, and (Y/N) wasn’t going to stand around while their friend was hurt.
“Don’t look at me like that, Kusuo,” said Kusuke as Saiki glared. “I was just teasing her. We both know only one person is worthy of you, and that’s because they aren’t shallow and have some real spirit! They stand up to everyone! That’s some real power against a monster like you.”
Saiki ignored the insults directed at him and the compliments towards (Y/N). (He wasn’t sure whether to be pleased that his entire family liked (Y/N) or irritated that even his annoying brother liked them).
“Kokomi?” said (Y/N), gazing at their friend in worry. They still held her hand.
I’ve never felt such shame. I won’t forgive him! declared Teruhashi. She sniffled, and a tear fell. “I—I never meant to—”
“Sorry, I know you’re a talented actress, too,” said Kusuke, looking past the crying. But everyone else was glaring at him as the crowd noticed the perfect pretty girl crying. “What’s going on? These people are surrounding us.”
“They’re surrounding you. Not us,” said Saiki, taking (Y/N)’s hand and pulling them back as the crowd advanced on Kusuke.
My secret pretty girl technique, Angel Tears! thought Teruhashi.
“Who do you think you are?!” shouted the crowd. “You made Teruhashi cry!” They rushed Kusuke.
“Are these all her boyfriends?” he remarked.
“We’ll bash your head in!” cried the crowd.
“Kusuo? (Y/N)?” Kusuke sweat-dropped and looked at them.
“What do you want us to do?” said Saiki, deadpan.
“Get him!” The crowd jumped onto Kusuke.
“Wow, he was defeated by Kokomi,” said (Y/N), impressed.
“And there’s a perfect distraction.” Saiki pulled (Y/N) through the crowd as Teruhashi watched her “hard work” proudly.
“Shouldn’t we be worried about Kusuke?” said (Y/N), looking back at the crowd.
“He’ll be fine. He always has a plan,” said Saiki.
“Fair enough,” chuckled (Y/N). “And he does deserve a little bit of fear for being so mean.”
Saiki smirked. He agreed. And, now, as he pulled (Y/N) far away from Teruhashi and her fans, he could really enjoy the New Year Festival. With (Y/N) and only (Y/N).
“We should go on the Ferris Wheel,” said (Y/N) excitedly, squeezing his hand.
“Okay.” Anything they wanted, they were getting.
And so, he let them lead him to the line and watched them grin out the window of the compartment all the way to the top. (Y/N) smiled as they saw the city spread out before them, all the people small and faraway.
“So pretty,” they said, smiling.
“Very,” agreed Saiki. But he wasn’t looking at the view. No, he was looking at the smile on (Y/N)’s face. And, unable to help himself—why would he when they looked so handsome in the golden light of the sun—he leaned and kissed their cheek.
(Y/N)’s cheeks warmed, they turned towards him, and, before he could pull back, (Y/N) kissed him. Saiki happily kissed back.
A perfect New Years.
What could be better than this?
l
“We have a problem,” said Saiki as the lunch bell rang.
“Huh?” said (Y/N). “Are you alright?”
“Rifuta is going to try to confess to me,” said Saiki.
“Uh-oh,” said (Y/N). They had forgotten about Rifuta developing a crush on Saiki (though they also knew that Rifuta 100% also had a crush on Teruhashi and was a bit confused).
“Let’s leave to eat lunch before she gets here,” said Saiki.
“Got it,” said (Y/N), grabbing their bento box and following Saiki out. They took the long way around the school and headed to the yard. There were too many people around for Rifuta to confess, so that was good.
“I’ve been using my telepathy to give her dreams so that she hates me, but it’s not working,” said Saiki.
“She and Kokomi are very single-minded,” said (Y/N). They paused. “But I think that Rifuta is just a bit confused. Maybe if you get her to realize she’s head-over-heels for Kokomi more than she is for you, that’ll help?”
“…She’d hate me for Teruhashi liking me, and then my reputation would be ruined,” said Saiki.
“Fair point.” (Y/N) winced. They’d seen Kusuke get dragged away by people who were angry that Teruhashi was upset, and they didn’t want to see what would happen to Saiki if he upset Rifuta—it wouldn’t be as bad as upsetting Teruhashi, but it wasn’t preferable. “So what do we do?”
“I don’t know,” said Saiki.
“…What if we acted closer?” said (Y/N).
Saiki looked at them. “What?”
“If Rifuta thinks you’re dating someone, she’ll back off. She’s just competing with Teruhashi, not really interested in you, so it could help,” said (Y/N). They waved their hands. “I-It doesn’t have to be me so it’s not obvious we’re really dating, we can get Miko or something, but it’s just an idea—”
“Let’s do it.” Saiki was desperate to get Rifuta off his back, and maybe being unavailable would explain his “unbelievable” disinterest in Rifuta.
“Okay, I’ll text Miko—”
“No, you and me.”
“Are you sure? If she really believes we’re dating, that’s another person finding out,” said (Y/N). “And it could get out that we’re dating—”
“If it does, it does. It has to happen at some point,” said Saiki.
The blowback from Teruhashi and the craziness of people finding out would be troublesome, but if it meant just being himself with (Y/N), in public, then he was fine with it. (Y/N) and Saiki both knew their relationship as their business and no one else’s, but they supposed it would have to happen at some point.
Plus, this could begin to get the idea of them dating into people’s heads so when it finally came out it made a sense. It eased people into it so they didn’t freak. (Honestly, it was fairly obvious to the audience that they liked one another, so why wouldn’t it be for people in the story?)
“Okay,” said (Y/N). “Then we’ll act affectionate to get Rifuta to realize you’re not interested for a real reason.”
Saiki nodded.
l
(Y/N) counted to ten as Saiki entered the lobby of the school to get his shoes. Rifuta was waiting for him, and he had walked right by her. Now it was their turn. They were a little giddy at the idea of being affectionate with Saiki in public. They weren’t a huge PDA person, and they didn’t care about people knowing they were dating—they didn’t act much differently than they had before except for being sweeter and kissing—but this was still fun.
Alright. Here we go.
“Kusuo!” (Y/N) smiled as they rounded the corner and walked up to Saiki. They took his hand. “Are you ready to go out?” They leaned in, their head on his shoulder.
“What?” Rifuta couldn’t help but speak aloud as she stared at the sight. He’s got a partner?! Really? No way!
“I am,” said Saiki, brushing their hair from their face affectionately. “Let’s go.”
“Saiki! Is that your partner?” said Rifuta, getting right to it. Her hands were on her hips as she looked between the pair.
Didn’t expect her to be so direct. I guess someone else is really finding out today.
“I am,” said (Y/N), smiling.
“Your Teruhashi’s friend and are dating him?” said Rifuta, hands on her hips.
“Hm? What does Teruhashi have to do with who’s dating him?” said (Y/N), tilting their head in “confusion.”
They don’t know Teruhashi likes him?! Oh, no! How will Teruhashi feel?!
Saiki heard Rifuta’s thoughts and blinked. (Y/N)’s analysis of a suppressed crush on Teruhashi was correct.
“W-Well, uh, doesn’t your friend know?” said Rifuta, trying to cover.
“I think relationships are very private. Don’t you?” said (Y/N), smiling and friendly as ever.
“I, uh, I guess—” Rifuta was growing confused by her worry for Teruhashi and how to react to (Y/N) still being sweet as usual. No thoughts of liking Saiki herself came to her mind—Saiki was pleased by that. I don’t feel jealousy, hate, or anything. Weird. I’m just confused. I guess I don’t like him after all?
Looks like it went well, thought Saiki.
But then why do I still feel so upset? Why does my stomach hurt? Why do I keep thinking about how Teruhashi will react to this? thought Rifuta.
“Uh, oh, Kusuo, Kokomi’s coming,” said (Y/N), seeing a glow appearing at the end of the hall. “I don’t think we can risk her finding out.” Her crush was still so steady that the blowback to their friendship would be horrendous.
Oh, no! Teruhashi is coming! She’ll see them together! I have to do something!
What?
Rifuta shoved (Y/N) and Saiki forward, and they stumbled into the storage closet. She slammed it closed behind them and stood in front.
…Huh?
I did not see that coming.
“Oh, Imu!” said Teruhashi, spotting her friend. “Long time no see.”
“Y-Yes,” said Rifuta, growing nervous.
“What’s was that?” whispered (Y/N), looking at Saiki.
“I don’t know.” He supported himself by his arms, but they were still incredibly close in the cramped closet. “Ask the girl who shoved us in here.”
“Are you on your way home?” said Teruhashi, smiling.
“Yes, I’ll be leaving soon, too,” said Rifuta. Why did I cover for them? Because she would be sad if she saw?
“Let’s go home together!” Teruhashi grinned and linked her arm with Rifuta’s.
Rifuta blushed, and her heart pounded. She’s so close! Wow! Shaking her head, she pulled away. No, no way! If you think everything is fine, you’re mistaken! She steeled herself and looked at Teruhashi. “Do you like Saiki, Teruhashi?” If she admits she likes him, I’ll open the door and show her! I’ll make you cry your eyes out!
Saiki and (Y/N)’s eyes widened. If they were found like this and their relationship came out—Oh, boy. Teruhashi would be upset, and they’d be hunted down for the rest of their days.
Nervously, Teruhashi blushed. “Y-yes. I’ve never really liked a boy before, so I’m not sure, but I think I do.”
“Why? Was it love at first sight?” said Rifuta.
“No. I was the opposite,” said Teruhashi. “At first, I didn’t like how he was never attracted to me. I was so angry with him that I couldn’t stop thinking about him.”
I see. I get it now, thought Rifuta.
I knew it was the idea of someone not treating her as a pretty thing to look at, thought (Y/N). Teruhashi needed to be valued as more than her looks, and Saiki was the first person to look at her without paying attention to her appearance, which was attractive to her.
Teruhashi! I love you! Rifuta hugged Teruhashi suddenly.
“Not what I expected,” murmured Saiki.
“Huh?” said (Y/N).
“She loves Teruhashi,” said Saiki. “You were right.”
I’ll never beat her beauty and kindness! Rifuta held Teruhashi close.
“What’s going on, Imu?” asked Teruhashi, confused.
I’m so hopeless! I love her! Rifuta smiled with a wide smile.
“I knew it,” asid (Y/N), smiling.
“What’s the matter?” asked Teruhashi.
I felt such anger because Saiki didn’t choose Teruhashi, but now I’m so relieved you weren’t taken from me. “I’m rooting for you!” said Rifuta. Even if she was lying a bit, she wanted Teruhashi to be in a fulfilling relationship. “I want you to be happy!”
“What’s gotten into you?” asked Teruhashi, worried at the sudden change in attitude.
“This is so much worse,” said Saiki.
“It’s nothing. Let’s go home together,” said Rifuta.
“She’s going to help Teruhashi,” groaned Saiki as Rifuta and Teruhashi walked away from the closet.
“Uh-oh. I guess this backfired a bit?” said (Y/N), wincing. “Sorry. It was my idea.”
Saiki shook his head. “It’s fine. Rifuta just had a realization. It had to happen at some point.”
“Who else would be someone’s gay awakening?” laughed (Y/N) slightly. They reached for the door handle. “At least we can leave now and one less person has a crush on you. And we didn’t get found in here. That would have been a scandal.”
“Scandalous, huh?” Saiki smirked slightly.
(Y/N) looked at his expression. “Uh, Kusuo? You alright?”
Saiki leaned in and kissed them. (Y/N) was surprised but kissed back—they weren’t saying no to a kiss from Saiki. One of his hands supporting himself went to their waist and pulled them closer. (Y/N)’s felt the pressure and smiled into the kiss. Their hands rose and tangled into his hair as he kissed them.
When the passionate kiss ended, Saiki leaned his forehead against theirs. “That is scandalous.”
(Y/N) looked at him, breathless. “When did you become a flirt?”
Saiki just smiled, leaned back in, and kissed them.
“We—” kiss “—have—” kiss “—to—” kiss “—go—” kiss “—home—” (Y/N) spoke between kisses.
Effortlessly, Saiki teleported them and their belongings back to his house, all the while continuing to kiss them. “There. Let me kiss you.”
(Y/N) laughed, pulled him in, and kissed him.

The Boys in the Band
AN: I got carried away with this one, but here is the second part to the band au
word count: 2.8k
cw: language? there is nothing really bad about this one.
Since your first show, you had been quite busy. You had opened for a couple bands at The Common Room, you booked a few nights at the popular club, The Hog’s Head, and managed to snag a spot in another festival. You had become popular very quickly amongst the girls, gays, theys, and young people in the city. Each gig you noted more and more fans, crowds growing, singing so loud and dancing so hard.
This is what you always dreamed of, performing and making people happy. You lived for the drama and theatrics of it all, dressing up on stage and singing your heart out. The girls felt the same electricity, the same passion as you. That made your bond as a group that much stronger.
Not to mention, you were all good friends. Lily had mentioned to you that she and Mary had been messing around and found out they actually sounded really good together. Then they asked Marlene if she would play drums, which she said yes to in a heartbeat. And then Lily realized they needed a front woman, someone who could sing and bring the most energy. She thought of you, your bold and fierce attitude, your flirty and fun personality. And that is how you started.
The four of you wrote all the music you performed; the fun and girly songs by Mary, the campy over-the-top songs about women by Marlene, the sad and slow ballads by yourself, and the thought provoking and experimental ones by Lily.
Mary had the upbeat, girly, pop songs down. Her personality just flowed with inspiration for them, so those were the types of songs that you mostly sang and performed. You weren’t complaining, her songs were half the fun.
Marlene was full of something you all liked to tease her about; lesbian angst. But all that angst made for great songs to perform and were usually the crowd favorites.
Lily was slightly different, she was full of thoughts and ideas about the world, and her medium to get them out of her brain and into the world, was through music and lyrics. She wrote a lot of songs for women, for rights for all and for political change. If you had to pick, you would say hers were by far your favorites. She didn’t write often, but when she did, she had a message, something to say. You loved that about her.
Your songs were all ballads and sad. The girls teased you about that too, saying you shouldn’t let a man make you cry. It wasn’t exactly your fault, you had just gotten out of a long term relationship, and were drawing inspiration from all the confusing, mixed feelings that came with that.
You had been dating this boy, Matthew, for about a year and a half, but everything seemed to take a turn for the worse a couple months ago. Your once sweet and charming boyfriend had turned into this cold, vacant man right in front of you. You two argued all the time, about small things as well as very important, serious things. He started accusing you of sneaking around, hiding things from him, cheating on him. None of it was true, and you tried to tell him that, but he wouldn’t listen to reason.
So you had enough. You told him that if you two couldn’t work things out, you didn’t know if you could continue on. He said nothing, just agreed with you. He didn’t try to mend the broken relationship, didn't try to fight either for you or with you. You would’ve taken either, but he just walked away.
As much as you tell yourself you’re doing so much better, that you have moved on and don’t care about him anymore, that isn’t exactly true.
You leaned into the band to distract yourself, putting everything you had in it so that you wouldn’t be left with those feelings. You’re just glad you had your friends, your girls who not only could help you through it, but also help you see this band through. They ignited you.
You felt that way even just sitting on the floor of Mary’s apartment. The space was cute and cozy. You girls were sprawled out over fluffy rugs, a plush couch, and two oversized bean bags.
Mary was nodding her head along to a beat that only she could hear, writing down what you could only guess were new lyrics. Lily was strumming a tune she had been working on for over a week. You and Marlene were talking about what to wear for your upcoming show.
“I think you'd look good in that pink leotard with the matching cowgirl boots.” Marlene recommended.
“The pink tassels or the pink heart?” you asked.
She thought for a moment, then her eyes lit up. “The tassels, that way you can wear the boots and maybe a cowboy hat,” she paused looking at the other two, “maybe we can try out Pink Pony?”
Excited, you clapped your hands together. You had been dying to perform this new song in front of a crowd and this was the perfect opportunity. You were playing at The Common Room again, but this time it was only you. Unlike every other performance you had, this time there were no openers, and no one else after you. You got a whole set for yourselves and the whole night to perform and party with fans.
The night was going to be nothing short of magical.
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
James followed Remus and Sirius into the stage door of The Common Room.
All three boys wanted to come and see the performance that The Pixies were giving tonight. They had gained a lot of traction recently, seemingly overnight.
James didn’t feel at all jealous or threatened, they were doing just as well themselves, and they made entirely different music. He was more curious as to the fact that this band came out of nowhere.
The Marauders were used to competition revolving around the music world. They had been doing this for a while now, they understood the fight to fill spots and book sets. This band was just another contender now.
James was more frequently used to The Snakes stealing their gigs or spots in festivals, but now even they were pushed aside for this new band. The Snakes was led by Sirius’s little brother Regulus, another person on the list James hadn’t spoken to in a while. James knew that Regulus was a grudge holder, hell, he was related to Sirius, so he shouldn’t be surprised that Regulus cut all contact.
He fucked up, he knew he did. But he still wasn’t ready to think about it.
Slipping through the crowd and continuing to follow as best he could, all three boys ended up in the back of the already packed room.
“Holy shit,” Sirius began, “there are so many people. How much were tickets?” He asked Remus.
Remus answered with a head shake. “Don’t know, Lily told me to come in through the back door so we wouldn’t have to pay.”
James’s stomach sunk, maybe he shouldn’t have come. Lily didn’t even invite him, he just tagged along with Remus. But, she had to have known that would happen, right? The boys didn’t do anything or go anywhere without each other.
“Oh my god! Hi,” came a voice from a girl to his right. “You’re The Marauders right? I love you guys. I’ve been to, like, a bunch of shows.” James recognized this girl. She was always front row or close enough, always giving Sirius a look that showed she wanted to fuck him, or at least become a groupie. “Could I get a pic?” she asked.
Sirius smirked. “Course you can sweetheart.” he said while she handed her phone to someone she was with. She stood between Remus and Sirius for the photo, then thanked the boys, obviously wanting the interaction to continue.
James did not. He would look like such an asshole taking pictures with fans at Lily’s show.
The thought was cut short when the house lights dimmed and the stage turned a hazy pink color. James lost every thought in his head when you came out on stage.
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
Walking out onto the stage, you were met by a wall of sound, cheers and screams. Your nerves and butterflies instantly fluttered away. This is where you were meant to be, up here on this stage, in front of a crowd, making music. You had dreamed of this since you were a little girl.
You pranced yourself out in a cowboy hat and high heel boots, a matching sparkly and intricately tasseled leotard to top it all off. Your ass may be out, but that was the fun of it, the aesthetic. Especially for the new song you had prepared for the night.
“Hello my friends.” you said, the cheers and screams somehow getting even louder. “We are The Pixies,” you introduced, “and we are here to give you the night of your life.”
You looked around the crowd to see so many faces enhanced with intricate and beautiful makeup looks, so many fans copying looks from your previous performances, so many bodies in bright colors. So many people who felt confident in what they were wearing and how they looked.
“We’re gonna start off with a new one if that’s ok with you.” You announced you got an astounding amount of cheers, noting many phones launch into the air to record this new one. “This song is a fun one but more importantly,” you paused, the whole crowd hanging on your breath, “it is about what my mother thinks I am doing with my life. Here is Pink Pony Club!”
The girls started playing the intro and you walked to the front of the stage, sitting down, legs dangling off.
I know you wanted me to stay
But I can't ignore the crazy visions of me in LA
And I heard that there's a special place
Where boys and girls can all be queens every single day
You stood, walking back to center stage.
I'm having wicked dreams of leaving Tennessee
Hear Santa Monica, I swear it's calling me
Won't make my mama proud, it's gonna cause a scene
She sees her baby girl, I know she's gonna scream
You whipped around to the audience
God, what have you done?
You're a pink pony girl
And you dance at the club
Oh mama, I'm just having fun
On the stage in my heels
It's where I belong down at the
You started dancing and jumping around stage, Lily and Mary joining you, smiles plastered on their faces
Pink Pony Club
I'm gonna keep on dancing at the
Pink Pony Club
I'm gonna keep on dancing down in
West Hollywood
I'm gonna keep on dancing at the
Pink Pony Club, Pink Pony Club
The audience had settled into the performance, had gotten into the groove of the song, and joined in the dancing and the fun.
I'm up and jaws are on the floor
Lovers in the bathroom and a line outside the door
Blacklights and a mirrored disco ball
Every night's another reason why I left it all
I thank my wicked dreams a year from Tennessee
Oh, Santa Monica, you've been too good to me
Won't make my mama proud, it's gonna cause a scene
She sees her baby girl, I know she's gonna scream
God, what have you done?
You're a pink pony girl
And you dance at the club
Oh mama, I'm just having fun
On the stage in my heels
It's where I belong down at the
Pink Pony Club
I'm gonna keep on dancing at the
Pink Pony Club
I'm gonna keep on dancing down in
West Hollywood
I'm gonna keep on dancing at the
Pink Pony Club, Pink Pony Club
The crowd was going crazy, right along with you, until you slowed down and the girls played quieter for the bridge.
Don't think I've left you all behind
Still love you and Tennessee
You're always on my mind
And mama, every Saturday
I can hear your southern drawl a thousand miles away, saying
God, what have you done?
You're a pink pony girl
And you dance at the club
Oh mama, I'm just having fun
On the stage in my heels
It's where I belong down at the
You jumped up and danced like crazy, the crowd joining in, loving this new song. Some picked up on the lyrics and were singing them back to you, the feeling indescribable.
Pink Pony Club
I'm gonna keep on dancing at the
Pink Pony Club
I'm gonna keep on dancing down in
West Hollywood
I'm gonna keep on dancing at the
Pink Pony Club, Pink Pony Club
I'm gonna keep on dancing

You kept dancing as Lily and Mary played the outro, out of breath and so happy. Once the song was finished, the whole building was filled with cheering. You looked to Mary, then over to Lily, they looked just as ecstatic, you could imagine Marlene felt the same.
“Thank you, thank you!” you said into the mic. “Well, if you like that Common Room, we’re just getting started.”
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
James had never seen a concert, a band like yours. There was no way to describe it, you were just, stars already.
The rest of the concert was filled with just as much fun, joy as the first song. The dancing and singing and laughing was indescribable.
The boys waited after the concert, waited until the last of the fans trickled out, then they made their way backstage. Walking down the halls and to the dressing room that had a piece of paper with the word “Pixies” in bold letters, Remus knocked on the door.
The giggling and sounds of excitement were radiating from the room, loudly even with the door shut.
They waited for a moment before the door pulled open, revealing Mary. The smile dropped from her face for a moment before she put another one in its place, this one though, was more of an uncomfortable grimace more than anything. “Hey! I didn’t know you guys were here.” Mary said, opening the door to let the boys slide through. She hugged each of them on their way in.
James made eye contact with Lily who was on the couch with Marlene. She didn’t break away. He quickly looked over to Marlene and smiled. “We wanted to come and say great show!” he said, directed at them all, but not being able to look away from Marlene, who just smirked, knowing the situation and that James was incredibly uncomfortable right now.
“Thanks.” Marlene replied smoothly.
Sirius noted the tension and decided to break it. “Where is she?” he asked.
All eyes went to him as Mary asked “Y/N?”
He looked at her and rolled his eyes, “No, the queen.” he said sarcastically.
“Are you going to try to sleep with her?” Mary asked, not holding back.
“What, no!” Sirius denied as if it wasn’t exactly something Sirius would do. “I just want to meet her. ‘Know thy enemy’ and all that.”
Lily scoffed. “She’ll be out in a minute, I think she's taking off her makeup.”
And as if right on que, you waltzed right out of the connected bathroom and into the dressing room. Smiling, you looked at the boys standing across from the couch.
“Here she is!” Mary ushered you over, chipper and still energized from the performance. “This is Y/N, Y/N these are the boys in The Marauders.”
Your smile grew. “The Marauders? You guys were amazing at the festival.”
Sirius smiled back at you, charming as ever. “‘I'm Sirius.” you looked to the next boy, who was glancing at a fuming Lily.
“Uh, I’m James.” He smiled, seeming to come back to reality and out of whatever thought he was lost in.
You looked at the final boy, tall and leaning against the wall. “And you’re Remus, right?” you asked.
He nodded. “Yeah we met a while back, lovely to see you again.”
“Lovely to see you! And it is lovely to finally meet you two.” you said to the newly acquainted Sirius and James, they nodded and smiled politely. There was a noticeable tension between everyone in the room, was there really that much of a rivalry?
“I think the boys were just heading out,” Mary said to the three boys standing in front of her. “Isn't that right?”
Sirius huffed and led the other two out throwing a “See you all soon.” over his shoulder as Mary escorted and followed them out into the hallway, shutting the door beyond her.
“That was… strange.” you said to Lily and Marlene. They just looked at each other and laughed, rolling their eyes. You didn’t understand.
“They're idiots.” Marlene supplied.
“They're boys.” Lily corrected.

After eight, in the inner city, I hold the door for Astrid. We step inside the restaurant and heat hits our faces in a waft, warming our frozen skin. Astrid slips her gloves off, folds her hat and unzips her coat with ease as I struggle, suddenly far too hot in my hat, the zip of my coat slipping between gloved fingers. I’ve pulled it inside out by the time the cloakroom attendant takes it out of my hands. I have walked snow onto the carpet behind me, while Astrid, miraculously, has not.
“They’re all here already,” she says. “We’re the last.”
“Yes, like always.”
It’s a table for six, and there our friends sit in conversation, their menus already on the table.
“Oh, Astrid! Jude!” Elias gets up from his seat at the head of the table to hug us. His smile, big and white, and his face flushed from the heat.
“We’re late,” Astrid points out. She speaks apologetically, but doesn’t actually apologise. “But we have your gift.”
“Oh!” He takes the gift bag from her and kisses both her cheeks. “This is so nice, my God, Astrid.”
I bought it, actually; the scarf made with some kind of silk mohair something-or-other, but Astrid picked it out, so really it’s she that deserves the credit. He’ll think she wrote the card too, even though she didn’t. I’m the one with the nicer handwriting.
“‘Dear Elias, on your twenty-first birthday,’” he reads as we join him at the table. “‘Here’s hoping for a year as fabulous as you are. I hope I know you forever, and we can party together at ninety-one too. You won’t need the scarf in Bali, but we hope it keeps you warm when you touch back down in Berlin next month. With love, Astrid and Jude.’ Oh,” he holds it to his chest. “You two are so sweet.”
“You are not supposed to say happy birthday unless it is a person’s actual birthday,” says Leon, swirling his wine around and pretending he can smell notes of bergamot, or whatever the server said was in it. He takes a sip, then sends the bottle back to the kitchen.
“Oh, okay, sorry,” I say. “We should have posted the card to Indonesia. That was really stupid of us, you’re right.”
His nostrils flare while Jonas, next to him, peruses a menu.
“Wow,” he comments, “Forty seven euro for the monkfish. It seems expensive.”
“Well, it’s an occasion,” Leon says, as the server returns with a second, hopefully more acceptable, bottle of wine. “We all agreed to eat at a nice restaurant.”
I raise my eyebrows, “Oh? What occasion is it?”
“Elias’ birthday, of course, what are you-” he breaks off to mutter to the server, who then circles the table to fill our glasses.
“I thought we just agreed not to mention the birthday until the actual birthday, which is not today, right? What date is it, again?”
Dalia sighs from her end of the table. “Jude, oh lord.”
Leon rolls his eyes. “You are being immature.”
What’s actually immature is a twenty-six-year-old man making an unnecessary enemy of someone who still has the word ‘teen’ at the end of their age, but Dalia is already kicking me beneath the table before I can open my mouth to point this out.
“I would love to see Bali,” Astrid sighs. “When it’s so cold like this, I feel I can’t stand it. I just want to be somewhere nice and warm.”
Elias smiles. “Well, maybe for your twenty-first birthday, your boyfriend will take you there.”
“Well, we’ve just booked tickets to Amalfi, actually,” I say. “We’re going in April.”
“Oh, I love Italy.”
“Me too,” Astrid clutches his hand in hers, a gesture of excitement in their shared love of, whatever, gelato or something. They converse about places they’ve been, and what they’ve seen, using the correct, Italian pronunciation, which is fine, because that’s how they’re supposed to be pronounced, and Astrid is fluent in Italian, but sometimes when I’m privy to conversations like this, I think of Jen, and the way she’d laugh if she ever overheard them.
Whenever a natural gap opens up in their conversation, I consider adding in my own anecdote about the time I went to Rome on a school trip when I was sixteen, and the school was cheap, so they made us do the whole journey by bus, which was so boring that Fitzy and I started squeezing dollops of toothpaste into people’s hair as they slept and posing alongside them with our two fingers up. Our punishment took the form of the teachers revoking our passes to St Peters Basilica, so while the others were in there, taking zoomed in photos of Michelangelo’s tiny penis, we spent two hours roaming the streets in search of a Dominos Pizza, which we did eventually find. Mine slipped out of its box and onto the pavement before I had even taken a bite, and we posed for photos with our two fingers up next to that, too.
But I know that if I tell the story, and Elias won’t react the way I want him to, but gasp, and look very sad as though it’s a tragedy, and then later, Astrid will ask me why I decided to share the story in the first place, because it was kind of awkward. When Elias asks me if I’ve been to Italy before, I simply smile, and I say no.
“You will adore it, then. Will you hire a car?”
“I suppose we will, right? Makes sense.”
Astrid nods.
“Well, then, if you’re staying in Amalfi, you might as well drive to Sorrento. Leon and I once stayed in this incredible hotel with a sea view. I can find out what it is called.”
“Oh, please.” Her thumb strokes the back of my hand. “We could add one or two more nights to our trip, do you think?”
I smile. “Yeah, of course we can.”
He tells her about a restaurant that does gnocchi in such a way that is notably different from other gnocchis in the region, and they continue, even as the food arrives. Tiny portions. I forgot the name of what I ordered.
Across the table, Leon and Jonas listen as Dalia talks animatedly.
“Right, and then, the woman, whose name is Martha, by the way, turns to me, and she says-”
She is halfway through a story that needs more context than what I have. I open my phone.
Jen, just thinking about our school tour to Rome lmao. Oh my God - the one where the teachers caught Ashling Duggan hiding you under her bed in the hostel? Hahahahaha yes! I still tell people about that trip, like, it’s always my go-to story with new people. Same, we’re just at dinner now, talking about Italy. I was just remembering all the stupid things that happened. And didn’t Cian Hayes shit himself or something??? I’m always foggy on that specific detail. Yeah, and he turned his underpants inside out because he was too lazy to get out of bed.
Omg sick. What do your friends think of the story?
My thumb hovers over the keyboard.
Yeah, they laughed. Show them that compilation of photos of you and Fitzy with all your sleeping toothpaste victims. Oh, God, I don’t have those anymore. I think I left all my photos in Dublin. What a waste! I’ll go dig them out someday, and take them with when I come to Berlin. Okay! Come soon, please. I miss you.
I miss you too, Judie. It’s honestly so weird that you have a whole new girlfriend I haven’t even met. I know. It’s weird for me too, but you’ll love her. She’s amazing. I bet. She’s beautiful. Understatement. I don’t know how you keep pulling it off. Well, I’d be stupid if I didn't go out with her, wouldn’t I? Yeah, probably. Lucky you aren’t stupid, then.

ꪆ୧ ── WISH UNATTAINABLE ┊ A MERE DREAM ﹑ HSR ⤿ starring: boothill ◟ sunday ◟ dr. ratio.

COSMIC SPLENDOR AND MERITED PRAISES ⟡ siobhan’s revealed that someone's here for you, insisting for you to not be a killjoy and come meet him.
“drink's on me sweetheart, knock ya'self out,” boothill slides the cocktail at you, giving his signature smirk as its free side dish.
you're not quite sure what you expected, but boothill being a bartender wasn't one of them. actually — it's believable when you think about it.
when siobhan sent you those messages, your mind went to either gallagher or aventurine. (un)fortunately, your guess was wrong. you are now a taste-tester and subjected to subtle flirting? a win is a win.
boothill puts a hand on his hip. he mixed the drink gracefully with siobhan's aid, it's bound to be perfect — hopefully.
“what's it called?” you asked, turning the glass around to appreciate the red and orange ombre. it reminds you of someone, but you can't put a finger on it.
“didn't think that far into it.” he shrugs. “you can name it, sweetheart.”
“i can name it sweetheart?”
“no, i meant... well, why the fuck not.”
you're sure you heard a disappointed sigh from him. maybe it's the alcohol? whatever, it tastes good. the drink's sweet, but it leaves a bitter aftertaste — if that makes sense. it's so sweet that you keep sipping, yet it's so bitter that you're reminded it's alcohol and not juice. a perfect balance.
gently placing the glass down, you slid it towards boothill, “another glass please, gentleman.”
“right away, darlin’,” he accepts your request, refilling your glass with the sweetheart special. this time, he adds a little edible glitter in the mix to spice up the aesthetic.
the glass is once again slid back to you. the only difference is a shine to the liquid. the new beauty to it can make even argenti fall to his knees to worship it (he worships anything beautiful).
“it's so good i can kiss you for it,” you mindlessly reply, licking your lips from the excess liquid.
goodness, do you want him to overheat? is the way to defeat a galaxy ranger a compliment without thought put into it?!
“pfft— uh— well—” he sputters, unable to form a proper sentence yet.
a few coughs later, he regains his ability to speak, “it's just that good ain't it, darlin’?”
“you're the best and i need you in the express to make fifteen of these,” with desperation in your voice, you lean over to hold his hand. it's cold, but not cold enough to make you back away.
“i'll be right with ya!”
THE INTERPRETATION OF DREAMS ⟡ you received an anonymous message urging you to come to penacony. it felt like a scam, but the messages were too prim and proper to be one.
hmm, something isn't right. you can feel it in your bones. either you're experiencing side effects of being on cleaning duty, or you're being hunted down. has your excellence finally exceed you to the point where you've appeared on someone's hitlist? maybe.
staring at the message on your phone, you squint at it before moving your head away. you must be careful or else you'd be affected by its ominous energy.
there's only one logical decision to make: find dan heng and let him decipher a possible hidden code in the messages.
“dan heng, i need you!” you exclaimed, opening his room's door with a force that should only be reserved for battles.
“did you clean your manners out too?” sighing, dan heng closes the book he's reviewing.
“i think i'm being kidnapped,” ignoring his snarky comments, you enter his room, showing him the pile of messages.
> Hello, (y/n). I trust that you've been well during your trips.
> Have you decided on whether you'll return to Penacony? If not, I hope that you come soon.
> There is something I wish to do with you.
> Meet me at The Reverie Hotel 10 system hours from when you reply. I shall accompany you directly instead of a regular staff.
> That is all. I'll keep the conversations for our meeting.
you shake your head, hugging your body in attempts to shield yourself.
“see! there's no way that isn't someone out to get me.”
dan heng falls silent. clearly, this is someone you've met before, but who? they haven't left any name, let alone a profile icon. there's only one way to find out and that's to reply.
“hand me your phone, i'll reply.”
...
have you been deceived? is dan heng in on this too? why would he reply? suspicion dominates over you. you slowly back away from his side.
“damn... they really do say your enemies are close.”
“that's now how it... whatever. just give me the phone so i can ask for their identity.” his tone's laced with disappointment. he's not surprised, but boy was he wrong for thinking you matured.
being left with no other choice, you surrender your phone and safety to him.
< Sorry, who are you?
< I'm sure we've met though.
“they're typing...” he mutters, leaning into your side so you can see the screen too.
> My apologies. I forgot to set my account.
> This is Sunday, head of the Oak Family.
“sunday?!”
“sunday!?”
this time you both were taken by surprise. out of everyone in penacony that would've sent you a text, he was the least expected. dan heng shoots you a pitiful look. he's pretty sure sunday's still on your hitlist.
“i am not going.”
“it's rude to ignore someone's request.”
“dan heng,” you began, folding your arms across your chest, “you can't make me go.”
in response dan heng simply nods. he walks out his room and into the main area. you're not sure what he did, but he came back to you lounging on his bed in five minutes.
you were already comfortable, with one knee up and a foot on the knee. you expected him to come back, but not with a trusted adult.
“are you serious?”
“himeko, (y/n)'s ignoring someone's request to meet.”
one corner of his mouth moves up. he knows he won this battle. snitching is the way to go, always.
and that's how you're now standing besides sunday. all stiff with nervous laughs, praying to whichever aeon that he doesn't use the telepathy punishment thing on you. it's game over and restart if he ever dares to.
sunday's as poise as ever — with a hand behind his back, he observes the view of oti mall below. it's bustling with life; the noise is enough to do all the talking. truly a one-sided comfortable silence.
“so... how's life been, sunday?” you tread carefully with your question and behaviour. you don't even make eye contact.
sunday smiles slightly, “it's been busy as ever. this is probably the only moment of peace in my schedule.”
and it's silent again. how do you continue a conversation with a bigshot? you ran your mouth with the supreme guardian of belobog but god forbid you're with the head of the oak family. scary.
cold sweat drops. you have got to keep the conversation going or you'll lose your mind in seven minutes.
“been getting into gambling with the slot machines lately. what about you?”
perfect. ten out of ten. a penacony-related addiction.
“i see you've picked up that ipc stoneheart's behaviour.”
okay, maybe it wasn't that perfect. and was that disappointment?!
it's silent again. you steal a glance of sunday and it did not help. he has a relaxed expression on his face. his chest rising and falling with every breath. is he truly comfortable with the silence? you're dying here.
a sigh leaves you. why not just speak your mind.
“to be honest, it's a little uncomfortable being so silent. i feel like i'm being watched by that large eye in the mall.”
sunday's head turns, his expression slightly changes.
“apologies, i did not notice. would you like to take a walk together?” he suggests, holding his palm out to you.
you place your hand in his, trying to hide the smile. you're finally going to do something instead of standing like an npc.
“yeah, sure.”
after your approval, you basically re-toured penacony. he even took you to his office. that's not even the biggest part. the huge wow factor here is that you were hand-in-hand with him. yes, hands intertwined with the most handsome man in penacony. someone should be jealous.
although his hand was gloved it still counts. the gloves are thin anyway — it was basically skin contact. had you known beforehand that sunday's hand was this manly you wouldn't have even complained to dan heng.
COSMIC SPLENDOR AND MERITED PRAISES ⟡ herta bothered you to return to her station, insisting that she needs your help. you reluctantly agreed, but didn't expect to meet the doctor you've been hitting on.
> Come. I need to experiment on you.
< Excuse me?!?
> Aeon stuff.
< Which Aeon is it?
< Herta?
< Hellooooo... Anyone there...?
> [Automatic reply] Hi, I'm currently unavailable, and won't be contacting you later.
< You've got to be kidding me.
> [Automatic reply] Hi, I'm currently unavailable, and won't be contacting you later.
a heavy sigh leaves you. new day, same old herta demanding your presence and going off the net. well, it's been a while since you've revisited herta's space station, and it doesn't hurt gaining new knowledge on aeons. hopefully it'd be quick... and that screwllum's there as well. out of the three, screwllum's the sole one that's gentle.
once you stepped foot in her office, you stepped right back out. seeing someone you've been avoiding to reply to their messages certainly isn't a good thing. the chances of the man you were testing your charisma on being with herta is low — incredibly low — but never zero.
“come here, (y/n).” a voice filled with authority calls for you who's standing to the side of the door.
you purposefully chose that position; since the doors are automatic, they'd immediately open if you were directly in front of it.
“no, thanks!” you yelled, preferring to stay where its safe from confrontations.
inside the office, herta folds her arms. the clock is ticking, and she doesn't want to lose interest before she can glimpse the secret of at least one aeon.
“just go get her. what're you standing there for?”
with a tone as blunt as that, ratio feels slightly offended, but he can't argue. she's right, he can simply bring you back inside the office.
confidentally walking towards the door, he steps out and immediately turns his head left. it was as he calculated: you were right there leaning against the wall, trying your best to act nonchalant while ignoring his obvious presence.
“don't act childish.” disappointment laces his voice, his folded arms shows it, too.
“whatever do you mean, doctor?” you smiled.
ratio's having none of it. he moves his position to stand in front of you, forcing you to look at him instead.
“your behaviour then and now is childish. get back in the office.”
“cut me some slack! do you think the courage i have over text translates to real life?” your defenses raise, poking his chest to enforce your point. “you're intimidating and handsome, dude. give me a break.”
a silence follows. the kind of silence that indicates you said something you definitely should've kept as a thought. nervously, you move your eyes to look at ratio's. the eye contact doesn't last long — like you said, he's intimidating (and handsome).
“tell me something i don't know.” ratio breaks the silence, grabbing your finger off his chest. “but that's not the point here, is it? we have something to do.”
mood: ruined. it's common knowledge to anyone who's been in a conversation with ratio that he's well aware of his visuals. compliments are nothing new to him — it's a shame he didn't act the way he did in your daydreams.
“gosh, you're so annoying.” a voice of defeat.
grumbling, you straightened your posture, making your way back to herta's office. ratio followed behind, observing the you walked. has someone walking always been attractive, or is it just because it's you? a question that he'll be pondering on until he finds a suitable answer.
“hey. you guys took too long. i don't wanna do it again,” herta complains the second she saw you two walk in.

Don't know if you know ('cause I sure didn't until yesterday) but Disney actually touched a little on the relationship between Hades and Persephone. Yeah, I know, shocking.
But when? And where? Well let's see...
Disney has this series of book, that are sort of What if? scenarios of their most popular stores. And one of them was this one here.
Now, it's not that flashed out (since it’s not the focal point of the story) but we do see H&P together.
At that point in the book, Seph is "missing" and we find out she went to live with Hades (willingly). And they're so cute together. I mean, look at this:
(She calls him "my sweet" btw)
And, when Persephone goes back to the surface, it's to show her mother the engagement ring Hades give her.
So, yeah. Thought you'd like to know.
'K, bye!
Yes! I remember when this came out! I did purchase the book when it was for pre-order on amazon. It didn't come for a whole month 😭. I think I stayed up till 2am for the audio book to come out. Fastest purchase of my life 🫠.
It's definitely one of my favourites. Yea, the story could have done with some more touch-ups. Bummer that Persephones design wasn't the one from the movie. But it was a good read regardless. ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
Here's my bookshelf dedicated to Hades. The only merch I have of him is books 💀🖤.

OUT OF MY LEAGUE.
the simple things in life were usually the most appealing to nicholas; he found beauty in everything. the gentleness and sweetness and softness of what just is. like a walking through the park and stepping on dried autumn leaves and hearing the loud crunching under the bottoms of his brown boots. he didn’t need things to be complicated or intricate or extra extravagant. nothing could ever compare to the simple things. the simple things; which are the most beautiful, he often said to his diverse friend group ( greta, jennie, and savion ) — who differed. it was the little things that were worth a bajillion; it’s the little things that actually kept the people united . .. .
the love alarm app — bless the creator's heart, trying to make everyone's love-lives just a tad bit easier — had felt like a cheap gimmick to him, a way to boil down something so genuine as love into a few lines of code and a glowing screen. love wasn’t supposed to be instant. it was supposed to be discovered in moments that people missed if they weren’t looking carefully: the sound of someone’s laugh, the way that someone spoke when they thought no one was listening, or how their eyes seemed to glisten and sparkle when they raved about a topic they were super passionate on, or how that someone looked when they thought they were alone; that soft .. restful expression.
the concept of love alarm felt pretty intrusive — he hated the idea that someone’s private feelings could be revealed in an instant, no choice, no control. he’d seen people’s lives change because of love alarm; friends who’d been devastated by unrequited pings, others who’d basked in the glow of a dozen notifications. people flocked to it like moths to a flame, their lives ruled by the chime of the app, their heads constantly buried in their screens, hoping for a sign that someone — anyone — loved them. it was kind of sad.
but his friends had insisted he get the app, just to keep up with the rest of society. and so, reluctantly, he did, though he kept it on silent and usually out of sight.
on this particular friday afternoon, he’d been wandering through the library, killing time before an upcoming class: philosophy. in one hand, he held his notebooks and in the other, a pen which he’d been twirling along his fingers skillfully. the place was almost empty; many having already left for the weekend or back in their dorms to sleep, except for a few students spread out with laptops and thick stacks of books. the quiet settled over him like a comfort, the kind of stillness that felt rare and safe; which he adored. he dropped the pen into a breast pocket of his jacket and slipped his phone out of a back pocket, not because he wanted to check love alarm, but to see the time, to make sure he wasn’t late ..
nicholas was about to put it back when he noticed something unusual on his screen — a faint, pulsating light outlining the love alarm icon. it took a second for him to register what it meant .. a quiet ping! the beating of a heart; a calm, relaxed heart. his lips almost curved up into a silly smile. someone in the library had on their love alarm .. and that someone loved him. someone within a 10mile radius loves you, his screen read.
nicholas’ first instinct was to ignore it, to pretend he hadn’t noticed. but curiosity had a way of creeping in and eating at his insides, no matter how much he tried to brush it off. he’d never really thought about the possibility that someone’s alarm would go off for him; he wasn’t the type to attract attention, and he liked it that way .. immediately with the knuckle of his right index finger, he pushed the round, wire-framed glasses ( the ones that framed his face perfectly ) further up his nose-bridge.
the notification sat there, quiet yet unignorable, a tiny reminder that he wasn’t as invisible as he thought — with his wired headphones, blocking out the rest of the world with one, single tune and a pocket of his messenger bag stuffed messily with crossword-puzzle, sudoku, and word-search books — he wasn’t just one of those background figures, the kind people always overlooked.
nicholas looked around, scanning the aisles, the nooks and corners of the library. there wasn’t anyone he recognized, just a few scattered figures with their heads down, lost in whatever they were reading and researching. but then he noticed you .. sitting alone and rapidly typing away at your laptop’s keyboard. you and him had advanced literature 1002 together — your brown face partially hidden by tight, dark curls. he liked how you .. wore your natural hair out and how it seemed to puff up and get bigger everyday.
you seemed engrossed in your assignment; you were content with your own company and focused, completely oblivious to the world around you, a quiet presence that somehow drew him in. he couldn’t see your face completely, but he was sure it was you .. for there was something so familiar. he looked in a bit more .. and there it was: that mini deer plush that dangled from a chain attached to your light-brown leather purse; your bestest friend had the matching mini bunny. and then it was the pair of miniature, light pink pointe-shoes keychain — he remembered earlier in the semester, during an icebreaker, you had said that you danced all your life .. and if you could, you’d choose your dream career.
nicholas considered for a moment — you didn’t look like someone who’d use love alarm honestly .. . not with your old, worn-out white sweater and laptop that seemed to anchor you in place; in other words, you looked too mature and far too sensible for this app — nicholas stared down at his screen .. yet, his alarm was still quietly blinking. pulsating. you hadn’t looked up, hadn’t glanced in his direction, but he could feel it — he knew it was you .. hidden feelings broadcasted, revealed in a single notification.
suddenly, his heart started to pound, a feeling he hadn’t expected or wanted. he didn’t know you, not exactly, but that small, cute light on his phone was a reminder of something he wanted to be apart of. you were close enough to set off his alarm, which meant something, even if he wasn’t sure what yet. he was about to turn away, to brush it off as some strange coincidence, but before he could, you lifted your head.
your eyes met his — just for a second, but it was enough. your gaze was soft, almost searching, and there was a flicker of surprise there too, as if you hadn’t expected anyone to notice you. you looked back to your laptop, un-reacting, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that you’d seen right through him, that somehow you too knew. it was unnerving, this sudden awareness — and then his gaze shifted and there was a girl .. staring at him, hard.
dianna halse; a gorgeous white girl so far out of his league.
his attention went back to the faint glow on his phone and the quiet connection it hinted at — a connection he hadn’t sought out, but one that seemed to have found him anyway and .. one that might not even be you.
and after a few moments, you stood up, gathering your things in a slight rush, as if you’d suddenly remembered somewhere else you had to be — your next class, maybe. nicholas watched you go, feeling a strange pull, an ache he wasn’t sure he understood .. and once you were out of his circle, the heart on his phone was still blinking. beating. pulsing. that single, silent confession wasn’t from you .. the app had confirmed.
“hi …” it took him a few seconds to pull his stare from your shrinking form. he clicked his phone off and dropped it into a back pocket. nicholas fixed his spectacles, quickly, and blinked down at the blonde standing before him. he faked a tight-lipped grin, and then he responded after leaving her hanging for about thirty seconds: “dianna. hello. how are you .. this afternoon?” not smooth at all, but rather robotic and awkward.
if they had gone to highschool together, dianna halse would have bullied ( destroyed ) him and broke him into itty-bitty pieces. he would bet on it. before her transformation into the real world, aka college, dianna h. was the epitome of a “mean girl” — swift with biting remarks, highly judgmental, and overly aggressive — and would have never associated with someone like nicholas; a theatre / glee kid, kind-of proper, unfashionable, lacking social skills and a woman’s touch, unabashedly geeky, and highly insecure.
“i’m doing pretty okay-“ she smiled at his acknowledgment of her and followed in step as he started off through the library again, back on track. “-i’m glad to’ve run into you, nicholas. i, uh, jus’ wanted to ask you about something-“ dianna struggled to keep pace — in her studded heeled-ankle boots — with nicholas, who won’t even make eye contact with her. dianna, on the other hand, glanced up at him every few seconds, praying he’d slow himself down. “nothing school or work related …”
nicholas stopped at the exit door — the one that led straight to the charleston building, where his 3:30pm philosophy class was located. his eyes found hers and he waited, undoubtedly annoyed and obviously disappointed. dianna saw the look he’d been giving her and how his shoulders were slumped, she opted not to take up anymore of his time. “there’s a gathering next friday night at wilder hall .. something nice and cute before thanksgiving break, and, well, i was wondering, really .. if maybe you’d want to tag along with me?”
his eyes widened, just a fraction, clearly taken aback. “.. what? me? ..” a smile started to pull at dianna’s lips, her hand reaching up to rake through a golden wave. “ .. like .. the both of us? .. i-together?” looking like a couple. there was nothing casual about this invite, he knew. dianna rang his love alarm and she was taking action, after waiting so long. “mhm. that’s right,” dianna said, moving the golden wave behind her shoulder, “and it’ll be fun.” he studied her intently, not yet giving her an answer. “let this be how i ‘thank you’ for being my amazing- .. -ly fun unpaid tutor.”
nicholas could feel a lump forming in his throat as he tried to find the right words — a polite way to tell this ex-cheerleader ‘no’ — in fear that she’d probably tell him off for declining her, which was something that he knew had never happened to her. the thoughts in his head all rushed together, soon producing: “can i .. think about it?” — his own words feeling heavy on his tongue — a safe guard, one that surely won’t last until next friday. she’ll need the answer eventually .. by sunday afternoon presumably.
dianna gave a light nod, she supposed he could. “‘kay ‘kay,” the young woman said first, “yeah, of course. just .. y’know, text or call or, uhm .. find me when you have an answer.” no, he told himself, sunday afternoon was too late. he had to break the news on saturday morning. yup, he’ll text her ‘no’ .. but not straight-up, because that’s a bit harsh, right? she seems to actually want him there, so he’ll have to express immense sorrow and misfortune. three-no-four sentences at least, he thought. with the correct punctuation marks and a few emojis, he has himself a get-out-of-jail card.
“will do.”

A Song of Sun and Snow - Chapter Five
Parings: Robb Stark x Baratheon Reader
Description: You and Robb Stark hated one another. Always had, always will. As the oldest daughter of Robert Baratheon, you had been engaged to Robb for as long as you could remember. He however had always thought of you as a southern bratty princess, and you had thought him as a arrogant jerk. You had reached your 18th name day a few months ago, and in a few weeks you'd be travelling to Winterfell to marry him.
Rating: Explicit (Eventually)
Words: 3,186
P.s: Just something I couldn't get out of my head. No use of Y/N. Only description of 'reader given: the fact that she doesn't look like Joff, Myrcella and Tommen (It's hinted she truly is Robert and Cersei's child) Not much though. Like one line. I wrote this in a different style to my usual style, using 2nd person. Hope it's okay. P.s there will be pregnancy in this, the 'reader' wants to have children. Also the ages are completely different in this fic then they are in the show/book.
Finally at the first stop towards your journey to Winterfell, You stepped out of the carriage, and followed the rest of the Starks into the small inn. Robb followed closely behind. The first thing you all did was sit at a large table and enjoy a nice hot meal.
Robb watched you the entire time, he couldn't stop thinking about the way he'd made you come, thinking about how you seemed so desperate and needy for his touch. How he'd been able to break you even for just a little bit and how you were still acting so defiant towards him despite it all.
You ate your meal quietly, chatting every now and again to Lady Stark or Robb's little siblings. Robb tried to participate in your conversations but his mind was elsewhere. His mind continued to drift to you, thinking over how you sounded in that carriage.
The inn was nice enough, it wasn't the fanciest of places you had been in before, but then again you were a princess who grew up in a large castle, nothing would be as fancy. The people who worked there were nice enough, and after a good night's sleep, you were back in that damn carriged, though this time, Robb's little sister Sansa had wanted to sit with you both. Robb wanted to argue, but you had given permission before he could even speak. Though it was probably best, otherwise he knew he'd do absolutely unspeakable things to you in the carriage.
"Will I be able to help you with your hair for the wedding?" Sansa asks, even at ten she was obsessed with everything to do with weddings, boys, looking pretty.
"Of course little one" You answer, smiling softly. The two of you spoke more of the wedding, and you found yourself a little excited. For the wedding part, not the Robb part...right?
Robb smiled as he listened to the two of you chat. It was actually kind of cute, to see how you were with Sansa, he thought. He thought you were so sweet and patient with her. It was yet another side to you, the warm, caring princess who was so good with children. Sansa asked so many questions, all of which you were happy to answer. Until one question that left you flushing red.
"What happens after you wedding? Mother won't tell me"
You choked on air slightly as the words left her lips. That little question caught both you and Robb by surprise.
"Uhh unfortunately that isn't something we can tell you, sweet Sansa" You spoke carefully "Perhaps your brother can tell you"
Robb had to laugh out loud at that, covering his mouth in an attempt to stifle the sound. He couldn't help himself, the idea of Sansa trying to ask him about wedding night activities and what happens between bride and groom was too hilarious to him. You smiled at Robb as Sansa looked at Robb expectantly.
"Uhh what exactly do you mean, Sansa?" Robb asks her.
"What happens after you wed?" She asks again.
Robb had started to feel a little flustered now, having both Sansa and your eyes on him. Sansa's face was completely innocent, and she looked so hopeful for an answer. He didn't exactly know how to explain this to her, but he attempted to do so anyway.
"Uh, well...usually the bride and groom do something to celebrate the wedding in their room, alone"
You smirked at him, enjoying this thoroughly. "Perhaps you can tell me about the dress you'll wear" You say smiling sweetly to Sansa, deciding to save Robb from this conversations. Robb couldn't help but let out a soft sigh of relief, secretly grateful that you'd change the subject, saving him from having to explain any further to Sansa.
The day carried on, the journey had been pretty uneventful so far. Sitting alone with Robb and Sansa had been pretty interesting. Spending time with them both had actually been fun. But you were thankful when you had finally reached the second inn for the night. The carriage had made your body ache and you needed a soft bed to lie in.
When in the inn you walked to your room and flopped down on the bed, lying on the end stretching out. You'd only been in your room for a few minutes when there was a soft knock at your door. You knew exactly who it was.
"Yes?" You called out. Robb pushed the door open and walked into your room, shutting the door behind him. He looked at you, laying on the bed, how soft your body looked, how inviting...
"Stark!" You say in utter surprise, not expecting him to actually walk into your room. He chuckled softly and walked over to the bed, sitting on the edge next to your lying figure. He looked down at you, stretched out in front of him. Gods, you looked so good like this....he could feel the want stirring within him....
"Did I scare you princess?"
"You shouldn't be in my room..."You say quietly. He smirked leaning closer to you, moving so his upper body almost hovered over your body.
"And yet, here I am..."
"You really don't care for rules, do you?" You ask, laughing softly. It felt weird to laugh in his presents, but you kinda liked it.
Robb chuckled...Rules? There were so many rules and he didn't care for any of them. Not when you were right here, underneath him, the way you should be. The defiant look in your eyes only fueled his urge more, he knew deep down you wanted him and as bad as he wanted you. Your eyes betrayed you.
"No, princess, I don't care for rules"
"I've noticed" You say quietly. You knew you should sit up, get off the bed and demand he leaves your room, but you didn't. "I'm exhausted, what is it?"
"I want you, princess" He whispers, his face lowered towards yours.
"You marry me in a few weeks, you get me then" You answer, wanting to lean up, press your lips to his. But you didn't.
"Ah...but my lovely, sweet princess..." He suddenly lowers himself even closer to you, his breath touched your lips "I want you now"
"We can't" You whisper. He groaned at your words, and the tone of your voice. That beautiful whisper of yours. Gods, you were driving him crazy, and you weren't even doing anything. He wanted you now, wanted to feel your body against his, hear all the pretty sounds he could make you make again...
"And why can't we, princess?"
"You know why" You whisper wanting so bad to touch him. Let him touch you again.
"Who cares if it's scandalous?"
"I am a princess, I will not have rumours of doing such things before I am married" You answer a little more forceful. The inn was too busy, too many possible people to hear you to such things with him.
"You're driving me insane" He mutters, closing his eyes and lifting up from you, he sits at the end of the bed with his elbows on his knees and his hands on his head.
"Why the sudden urge to touch me? What happened to us hating one another?" You ask quietly, sitting up and matching his pose.
Robb laughed at that, you were absolutely right. What had happened to him? Why did he suddenly want you so badly, when only a few days ago all he wanted was to run away and not marry you. He wasn't even sure himself, but the fact remained that all he wanted right now was you, to feel your body against his, to feel you beneath him and hear the pretty sounds you made when he touched you...
"I don't know princess, I'm not sure what happened. But I don't care about hating you anymore" He finally admitted out loud.
"You don't?" You whisper, not believing his words. He shook his head, he really couldn't care about hating you anymore.
"No, I don't care about hating you. I just want you"
"I...I don't want to hate you anymore" You whisper, looking up at him. His blue eyes looking into yours. Robb leaned a little closer to you.
"Good, because I don't want to hate you anymore, either, princess"
"Maybe...we could try and be friends...until our wedding in a few weeks time?" You ask slowly.
"Ah...friends, huh?"
"Yeah...maybe you can not be a dick for once" You say smiling.
"I suppose I could be a little nicer"
"That's all I ask" You say softly. He chuckled again, the urge to pull you into his lap was intense. But he wouldn't.
"And you'll be nice in return?" He asks, his eyes on you.
"I can definitely try"
"That'll do, princess" He answers, a soft smile on his lips. You felt your lips smile as he did.
"Right...well you better be off to your room" You say carefully, trying not to sound too harsh in your tone. Robb chuckled again, knowing he should listen to your words. But he didn't want to leave. You were sitting right here, looking so damn good....
"You're really going to make me leave?"
"You want your family to find you in my room?" You ask, Lord and Lady Stark would berate him if they found him in here, and as much as you'd like to see that, it wouldn't be right.
"Damn it, you're right" He groaned.
"Goodnight Star...Robb" You say smiling, his smile widen, he really liked his name on your lips.
"Goodnight princess" He says before leaving you to your room.

The remainder of the journey to Winterfell took a few more weeks, and was more enjoyable now you and Robb decided you were going to try and be friends. Being able to talk to one another without being hateful and defiant towards each other all the time was a pleasant change...though it was a little bit torturous having to act as friends when you both wanted to jump each other's bones.
You were relieved when the carriages stopped in Winterfell. You were exhausted and were ready for a long hot bath and a lie in your bed.
"So this is Winterfell?" You say as you step out of your carriage, you take hold of Robb's hand and he helps you climb out. Robb smiled as he watched you look around, the courtyard before the castle was cold, and busy, the people of Winterfell stood around watching Robb's new soon to be wife, you smiled and waved as you saw the people. It made you uncomfortable having so many eyes on you, but as a princess, you were used to it.
"Welcome to Winterfell, princess" Robb said to you, his hand still on yours by your side.
"Thank you, Robb" You smile softly, you shivered slightly, not used to the cold air on your skin, but it wasn't nearly as bad as you imagined it to be.
"Come, let's get you settled" Robb said leading you by his hand through the courtyard, the younger of the Stark siblings were running ahead to get into the castle, whilst Lord Stark and Lady Stark slowly wandered behind, speaking to various people.
"Thank you" You say smiling up at him "I'm ready for a long bath"
Robb chuckled lightly, he imagined you laying in the tub, all relaxed. Not that he had any idea what you'd look like laying back in the tub just yet, but he damn sure wanted to find out soon...
"Your new handmaidens should be preparing a bath for you right now, princess" He said.
"Oh wonderful...." You beamed at him. Robb showed you around the castle first, showing you the main areas, including the library, you were most excited to spend time in there. And finally when you had seen most of the castle, the important parts he showed you to your room, it was your temporary room, until you were wed to him.
"Thank you Robb, I'll see you at dinner" You smile at him as you both stood outside your room's door. Robb was feeling reluctant to part with you, he needed to find something to keep himself occupied for the next few hours between now and when it was time for dinner, otherwise he'd probably go insane with the urge to go to your room and see you again, to spend more time with you....
"Okay, see you at dinner, princess. Have a nice bath"
"I will" You say, smiling up at him fondly. You walked into your room, it was decent enough, a little darker than you were used to. Your handmaidens greeted you with a simple bow and showed you to your bath, they helped you undress and you stepped into the hot water, you sighed happily as you settled, you had not wanted to get your hair wet so whilst you soaked in the lavender scented water you had your handmaids do your hair, they were careful and left your hair mostly loose with a few plaits.
Once the water started to become colder you stepped out, allowing your handmaids to dry you and help you dress in one of your new dresses, better suited for the cold of Winterfell. It was a deep purple dress that covered your arms completely which you were grateful for. Once done you had a servant show you the way to the feast hall, and once there you found all the Stark's sitting around the table.
It was a smaller table than the one in Kingslanding, it was more intimate, more...family like.
Robb looked up as you entered the room, his cool demeanor went out the window as he saw you enter. You looked beautiful, the deep purple of your dress making you look...so perfect. He then stood and walked over to you, meeting you mid room, he took your hand in his and kisses your knuckles, he lead you towards the table and pulled out the chair in between his spot and next to his mother.
You waited whilst Lord Stark spoke to you, welcoming you to Winterfell formally, and then the meal was served. Robb watched you idly as you began to eat, his thoughts consumed by you. You were so close to him, the faint scent of your skin driving him crazy, the way your dress hugged your body so perfectly...He was getting to be more and more tempted to just forget his promise to you, to stop acting like a good boy and take you right there on the table....
"Robb?" You say again, his eyes were on you, but he hadn't responded the first time you called his name.
He snapped out of his thoughts as he heard you speak, he looked at you with a startled expression.
"Yes, princess?"
"Didn't you hear what your mother asked?" You asked him, giggling softly.
He blinked, not having heard any question from you or his mother. He'd been too distracted in his daydream to hear or notice anything at all.
"Ah...no. Sorry mother, I didn't hear...Could you repeat the questions?" Robb speaks, an awkward smile on his lips.
"I thought tomorrow you could take the princess for a ride through the woods, she says she'd like to explore Winterfell before the winter comes" Lady Stark repeated herself.
Robb blinked, surprised by his mother's words. A simple ride through the woods...It was far too tempting to get you all alone, with no one around, nothing separating you from him in the thick, cold woods...but he knew he had to say yes....
"Ah...Yes, I can take her riding, mother, what a lovely idea" Robb smiled, taking a large gulp of his ale.
"Oh really? Thank you Robb, I'd truly love that" You exclaimed excitedly, your horse had come with you on the journey and it had been weeks since your last ride. Robb couldn't help the goofy smile that was forming on his face. Gods, he couldn't wait to have you all alone in the woods, with all that privacy and nowhere for anyone to see you, no one to stop or prevent him if he just took you right there in the woods...Gods...
"Robb?" You say, seeing he was daydreaming again.
"Ah..yes princess? Sorry, was I staring?" He asks, he definitely was, that purple dress on you, your perfect hair, your golden skin in the harsh white of Winterfell, it was too much for him, he was overwhelmed with your beauty.
"Yes.."You answer with a small giggle "But I asked you a question, did you hear me?"
Dammit...He thought, he needed to screw his head back on, getting so easily distracted. He was the future Lord of Winterfell, he couldn't let himself get so distracted by his future wife.
"No, I'm sorry, could you repeat it?" He asks a little sheepishly.
"Would you be kind enough to walk me back to my room? I'm exhausted after the long journey here" You ask again.
"Yes, of course princess, I'd love too" He grins, standing up. He watched as you stood and smooth out your dress and then you held your hand out, taking his arm. You say goodnight to his parents and family and then he starts leading you from the room. You were so tired, struggling to even keep your eyes open now, luckily Robb's arm was keeping you steady as you walked.
A small part of you wanted to push him against the wall, press your lips against his. As you walked through the halls, he didn't same much, just like dinner, he barely spoke to you. It made your brows furrow, and finally when you reached your bedroom door, you stopped walking and stood directly in front of him.
"Have I done something to upset you?" You ask, a small pang of panic surging through your heart.
Robb looked down at you confused, he then realised how quiet he had truly been this evening.
"No princess...No you haven't done anything wrong"
"Are you sure....Because since we've been in Winterfell, you've barely said a word to me" You say, you didn't want to sound pathetic but you couldn't help yourself. Those last few weeks of the journey were wonderful, you and Robb spoke about everything, got so much closer.
"I promise, you haven't upset me, I've just....I've had a lot on my mind" He tries to explain.
"Oh...right..well if you're sure, thank you for walking me to my room, Robb" You say quietly as you reach up on your tiptoes to press a gentle kiss to his cheek.
"You're welcome princess, get a good night's rest, okay?"
"Of course, goodnight" You say and then you walk into your room. Robb stood there for a moment, watching as you disappeared into your room. It took every ounce of his strength not to follow you inside and do terrible, shameful things to you right there and then. But he knew he had to control himself. And the thought of taking you out riding in the woods tomorrow...Now that would be a real challenge to control himself.
"Goodnight, my princess"

Not to get all gushy about a book for middle schoolers but my absolute favorite part of TSATS is that the entire fandom for how many years has been going "Will Sun Nico Moon goo goo ga ga color theory" and Rick was like, "You know what, nah."
Nico di Angelo is not good because he's a reflection of Will like how the moon reflects light off the sun.
He's light on his OWN.
He's not quite as bright, quite as vibrant, but he's still glowing of his own volition, which is such a nice sentiment from a man who usually feeds into our fandom delusion. He finally put his foot down about something and went--
"Hey guys. You know that character I've been building on and you've grown up with that started out eleven and angry and sad and now he's fifteen and in a loving relationship and has a certain amount of optimism despite all the shit he's gone through? Yeah, stop fucking comparing him to the moon. My boys are not an angsty pinterest board, eat my ass."
And I love him for that.

I will never make this because it would be for an audience of one (me) but ever since reading "If we Were Villains" (story about serious drama kids in college who perform shakespeare and deal with a murder) I have been entertaining the thought of a crack fic crossover with High School Musical The Musical The Series where the staff decides they will no longer put on shakespeare after the tragic accident that happened at Thanksgiving, because Shakespeare plays would only increase the tension and drama. So they hire Ms. Jen who decides their spring play will actually be High School Musical (which exists in the 90s in this universe) and it ruins the vibe so much that everyone gives up on being dark and mysterious because they're universally pissed at Ms Jen for making them learn choreoraphed basketball dancing.
#if we were villains is actually genuinely good and has actual literary worth and pulls from shakespeare in an intelligent meaningful way#but unfortunately all i can do is comedy so this is the only fan content i have to offer :(#THE THING IS iwwv is just hsmtmts if it hsmtmts was good and also they committed crimes#they utilize the same parallel of casting choices with real life drama which I love#umm so casting: Meredith would be Sharpay Obvi. I think it would be really funny if James was cast as Ryan bc they hate eachother and would#have to pretend to be siblings working together. And I think ashley tisdale and Lucas Gabreel actually didn't get along when filming#also i love the thought of Ms Jen looking at James and going “i know what you are”#HOWEVER it would be more interesting if james was Chad to Oliver's Troy (which is really just reversing their Romeo and Juliet moment)#bc chad is like nooo don't do theater... stick with me and do basketball... but it would be Coded Subtextually#Unfortunately Wren would be typecast as Gabriella and I don't think that would cause drama bc I don't believe James actually liked her!#I think it was comp het bc she was very sweet and nonthreatening as opposed to Meredith's big flirting energy so she would be a “safe” crus#lets lean into that actually. this gives Wren a chance to have a personality (bc I enjoy this book but it is not good at fleshing out women#So oliver and Wren spend more time together and kind of talk about James a little and Wren is like yeah James is very sweet#and I like him but it feels so hard to get him to feel comfortable with me... i guess he's just closed off and doesn't talk much#we also get to see more of her personality and interests maybe she's like I relate to gabriella because I also like to Read :) feminism#and oliver is like Hmm That Is Not My Experience With Him perhaps our bond is deeper and James does like me Hm#And then Meredith can flirt with him as Sharpay and James gets pissed and in character gets very intense about how Troy can't join THEATER#that's why he's upset and sad bc sharpay represents theater and only that reason and nothing else and he isn't in love with oliver At All#Alexander can be Ryan now since James is Chad (and he's also Gay) and Filippa can be Kenzie bc they're both queer coded#Anyway at rehearsal one day Meredith and James and Oliver are having their fighting over troy moment and then Meredith stops and is like#wait guys. This musical is so freaking stupid. why are we even doing this#and their mutual frustration at their art being turned into a farce is enough to bond them together and they're like#we need to focus on our REAL enemy: ms Jen#and then they hatch a scheme and it's probably like. They dump a bucket of fake blood on her at opening night a la carrie#and then put on their own rebellious production... it still has to be a musical because i like musicals#families with children are in the audience and they're like OK FOLKS! HERE'S ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW!#if we were villains#iwwv#hsmtmts#high school musical the musical the series

Everyone during neverafter 15: oh my god these social interactions are going horribly they’re all doing so bad!
Me, neurodivergent and cannot read social cues: idk mostly these seem fine
#like… Pinocchio overshared for sure#but I didn’t think the rest of them were too bad? like they rolled poorly yes but the actual conversations went fine? I thought?#i at least didn’t think they were as bad as everyone else seems to think#like… with ylfa. when you are a young girl and you meet an older woman who is Like You and successful you are drawn to that#her questions didn’t seem invalid if a bit personal#like ‘how did this happen to u? how do u find the answers and the strength to be successful when your like this the way we are now?’#that was fair to ask! there was a moment before that where they even clocked eachother as beasts! and then ylfa asked about Pib#which seemed fine to me. like she was genuinely asking advice and she got shutdown with like a one word answer#I feel like la bête did worse in that interaction than ylfa did#none of the stuff with gerard was really his fault within that interaction. Brennan surprised Murph with the read the cards outloud thing#he handled it the best he could under the circumstances#Pib did great. Pinocchio overshared but his intentions and actual words were sweet! traumabonding!#Rosamund did great! she was kind and she said what she wanted like yeah! not too bad!#i don’t think Ally intended to actually put dirt in the cookies Brennan kind of pushed that and I don’t think a lot of what he said was bad#I think ally could’ve handled it better in the sense that they could’ve just told the truth and been vague abt the questions being abt#the book but the stuff about being so overly nice and a bit unnerving seemed like an accurate and not very offensive way of putting it#even before they knew about the nihilistic princess cabal stuff they thought rapunzel was creepy#cienna talks#neverafter

2024 reads / storygraph
The Loudest Silence
YA contemporary
a newly Deaf-Hard of hearing girl moves across the country and starts a new school, struggling with navigating her disability and love for singing and lost friendships - determined to not make any new friends for the year she’s in Florida
and a boy struggling with family expectations and anxiety, after being made the fútbal captain even though he secretly ways to be on broadway, who quickly befriends her
bi & aroace-coded MCs
#The Loudest Silence#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#hm this was okay! it’s a sweet and light YA contemporary focusing on friendship and disability.#It’s a little cheesy; and I liked the immediate easy friendship (well; after a few false starts) and how welcoming Hayden's#friend group/family were. I like how they all jumped to learning/practicing ASL.#I liked how Casey was dealing with her newfound Deafness with a lot of positivity - the main frustrations being how other people treat her#but there’s also the underlying isolation and grief. At the same time it didn't go as deep as it could have with that?#The friendship is central to the story - but honestly I feel like Casey and Hayden’s relationship doesn’t develop past ‘they’re friends now#[continues other subplots] - it ends up being a bit telling not showing their friendship. And then she gets a love interest.#I feel like if you’re centering your book on being a platonic love story - rare in YA! - giving one a love interest kinda goes against#what’s supposed to be unique about it? Like it wasn’t overwhelming and I thought it was sweet actually; I just didn’t come here for that.#I always find it a little odd when YA contemporary books don’t explicitly name their aroace characters as aroace -#obviously I prefer an exploration of experiences to just using the word and nothing else; but in this genre; why not both?#considering various other identity labels are used and discussed there were various points where it felt like it was walking circles#around where it would be obvious to say “no I’m aroace” lmao?#And there’s a point where Casey mentions seeing an ace sticker on his guitar - the only reason it wasn’t an aroace sticker is bc#that would have ruined the minor subplot of her assuming he’s gay/dating his other friend. It felt like a slightly odd way to mention it?#but also I guess I appreciate it being evident throughout but also being a non-issue plot wise - while there’s a couple of moments#of people making romantic assumptions about them;for the most part it’s just treated normally for a boy & girl to be friends (as it should!#It does get points for mentioning people watching by conan grey LMAO (not that it really explores him feeling that way specifically;#but I mean same lol)#Overall plot-wise - there were kind of a lot of things going on and it petered out a bit? I wanted some more depth in some areas.#Also I feel like some of the references seemed out of date for current teens haha.#i do love the love for unusual pets (hairless cat and iguana)#aroace books#bisexual books

oh sometimes i'm overcome with the realization of just how sentimental a bitch i am
like i really am straight up just playing make-believe with these characters like they're digital barbies
okay so in Iona's inventory, i've had this necklace
since very early in act 1.
it was in Aradin's chest at the Grove, and it was the first thing "we" managed to get with the "I distract them with conversation/busking and you steal everything that isn't nailed down" act/trick I had thought up for her and Astarion. I thought it'd be kinda cute for him to, at the end of this test run, present it with a ~theatrical flourish~ once just out of earshot of its original owner, and for her to ~graciously allow~ him to drape it around her neck, as a hamfisted and silly act of mock-courtship they both know is false. (it was kind of a... "we both know what this is all about and where it's headed, but wouldn't it be fun to play make-believe and pretend it's something entirely different" type of thing.)
I thought it'd be cute, if a touch bittersweet for her to keep it, just slotted away in her little "sentimental items" pouch, like.... next to the dog toy, her old wedding band, and the other useless junk she couldn't bring herself to throw away or sell.
and then today, i found this as I was selling stuff in the Glittering Gala.
it's the same design. and i like to describe Iona's eyes as "amber" when I write about them (they're kind of a reddish/yellowish, pretty medium brown). and she looks much better in golds and reds than she does in blues and silvers.
so. um.
guess who got this bloody thing "sneaked" into her inventory at the long rest.
if you think i won't 1.) exit a trading screen abruptly, 2.) switch controlled characters, 4.) buy a silly and utterly useless junk item AS that character (thought about just picking her pocket but.... we have 35k gold. why would i.), and 4.) keep it in that character's inventory until it "seems like" the PC isn't "paying attention", and then 5.) drop it into their inventory "unnoticed", all for LITERALLY NO GOOD REASON other than just to act out a silly little gesture and support the little fanfic in my head, well.
you'd be very wrong.
((and i was grinning and giggling downright embarrassingly the whole time too))
#squirrel plays bg3#oc: iona raedir#“astarion isn't the type to do romantic gestures” false#“he does big thoughtful acts of courtship and sweeps the pc off their feet” also false#it is my belief that he isn't the type to do Big Flashy Romantic Things#and is also not the type to be vocal about them#my headcanon is that he'll do the Big Declarations and Theatrical Displays when he's taking the piss in some way#as in he'll joke and play at- and exaggerate courtship when it's all for fun and show and means nothing or very little#but when it's supposed to actually MEAN something; when it's REAL; then the ways he shows love are both small#and done without fanfare or expecting acknowledgement#not even making the slightest effort to keep hands to themselves even in public is fun of course; but the love?#that's in... a pilfered piece of that fruit she likes found randomly in her pack. a swift dagger batting aside a blade meant for her ribs#a small scratch of a pen's tip subtly marking a sweet passage in the book she “borrowed” from him#or in this case; it's something that she found among her things and put on without making a fuss about it#at least not beyond a knowing glance shared; a soft smile exchanged; and her fingers absently fiddling with the stones throughout the day#if she wasn't wearing the guidance-amulet (useful) i'd probably actually equip it on her like i did the silver one for the longest time ngl#because like i said; i'm a sentimental bitch playing make-believe with my little toys

I like it when old people have romance plots in media. Divorced parent gets a new partner and their child loves them. Widow re-marries and finds happiness with their new spouse. Old gays finally able to have their dream wedding and live their lives openly. Elders finding love in a nursing home found-family style. Just. People older than 30 falling in love and having fulfilling relationships is what I mean. Because all I see ever is divorce plots and grief and loneliness because apparently you can only ever be happy and have fun as a teen/young adult. The moment you hit a certain age you stop being elegible for the role rom-com protagonist. It's a little discouraging tbh. I want to see that change.
#What I mean to say is. We need more shows like Grace and Frankie. There I said it.#A while ago I watched a few episodes out of order because my mom really likes it and she was binging it#And I wasn't really paying that much attention to it#But I thought it was sweet. Like genuinely. These people are having struggles with their relationships yes.#They have children. Grandchildren. They have struggles.#But it's still a rom-com. It's all lighthearted and focused of the unlikely friendship of these women#After having their lives shaken by the revelation that their life partners are actually gay#And also there's Jewish representation. Idk if it's good. But listen.#I'm just happy old people got their well-deserved silly plot with silly overly convoluted love triangles and online dating#AND ITS ALL SO UPBEAT!!#Anyway#queer#Also queerplatonic relationships pog#Media#romance#Tehanu is a good book also. If you even care#It's not a comedy#But it's still very sweet. Everyone here is really sad and traumatized but they love each other so much. They had enough adventures#It's time to settle down. Adopt a child. Have a low-stakes plot. Falling in love. Found family.
